The regulations governing intangible immaterial property are defined in law and, collectively, are know as Intellectual Property Law. Intellectual Property Law covers the protection of industrial property as well as copyright and the related protection rights.

Responsible for all matters relating to intellectual property in Switzerland is the Swiss Federal Insitute of Intellectual Property.
