The (Associate/Senior) Director Protein Engineering and Production is a scientist responsible for leading an interdisciplinary team performing a support function for all Vector BioPharma’s research and development teams.
The (Associate/Senior) Director is responsible for planning and conducting scientific research, developing and leading his/her own team, and analyzing, interpreting and communicating scientific results under the directives of the senior management.
He or she will focus on developing and advancing Vector BioPharma’s gene delivery platform by engineering specific binders and effectors, producing high quality R&D scale recombinant proteins, and process optimization in protein production capabilities in support of teams working on a variety of applications in gene therapy.
The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in protein engineering, ideally with experience with rational design and/or directed evolution, and have worked extensively with antibody-derived fragments, including humanization of antibody-derived components.
He or she will also have extensive knowledge of cloning, production, purification and characterization of recombinant proteins in both prokaryotic and mammalian expression systems and be able to lead process optimization for R&D scale production of recombinant biologics.
He or she must effortlessly take a cross-functional role in supporting both tech development and applications development in cancer immunotherapy, cell therapy, gene editing and gene modulation. T
he (Associate/Senior) Director must possess excellent verbal and written scientific English communication skills and have experience managing cross-functional collaborations within an organization and with external partners. He/she must have up-to-date knowledge of pertinent literature in the fields of protein engineering, biologics up- and downstream processing, gene therapy and biotechnology at large.
