Course Overview
The volumetric mass transfer coefficient, kLa, is an important parameter in many bioprocesses. It describes the rate at which a gaseous compound, such as oxygen, transfers between the gas phase and the liquid phase. The kLa Determination Workshop is designed for anyone interested in gaining deeper insights into the gas transfer characteristics of bioreactor systems and learning how to optimize parameters that influence kLa.
Participants will benefit from expert-led sessions covering both theoretical foundations and practical applications. The workshop also offers hands-on experience in experimentally determining kLa values in lab-scale bioreactors using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at the Department of Biotechnology of TU Delft. The course concludes with a live demonstration of an innovative, fully automated method for determining kLa in bioreactors.
