Job description

Anjarium is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company focused on creating a new class of non-viral gene therapies to deliver more predictable, enduring, and inclusionary ways to tackle genetic disease throughout a patient’s lifetime. The Company’s versatile platform aims to leverage breakthrough science and expertise at the interface of genetic medicine, synthetic biology and nanoparticle engineering to generate a pipeline of advanced gene therapies with unique competitive advantages over current viral-vector based gene therapies.  We are backed by leading international and strategic investors Abingworth, Gimv, Omega Funds, Pfizer Ventures and Surveyor Capital (a Citadel company).

Currently headquartered at Biotechnopark in Zurich, Switzerland, we are rapidly expanding our team and are looking for talented and creative individuals, driven by patient outcomes, to join us. Our team is passionate about building a new generation of durable genetic medicines for life-threatening diseases while pushing forward the frontiers of gene therapy.

About the Role:
The candidate will join our platform discovery & research team and will develop, test and implement novel concepts to implement a rational design approach for gene therapy construct performance by utilizing combinatorial libraries and multi-dimensional analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devising genetic screening library approaches for the design and evaluation of gene therapy construct performance
  • Develop and implement workflows for analysis of multidimensional data sets (expression data, bioinformatics, construct yield etc.)
  • Parallelized execution and analysis of construct performance and molecular attributes in vitro
  • Utilize modern DNA synthesis and combinatorial library generation approaches to develop and implement strategies for vector engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum of PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Virology or related field with 2+ years experience in an industry setting required
  • Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of molecular biology techniques such as cloning, plasmid design, sequence analysis and manipulation, RT-qPCR, assay development, etc. is essential
  • Expertise in DNA synthesis and combinatorial library generation/management
Knowledge and experience with bioinformatic analysis and NGS (e.g. database generation/maintenance and statistical evaluation of high-dimensional data sets) a plus
  • Hands on experience AAV/Lenti constructs preferred
