About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Translational Research Scientist to join our growing team and play a significant role in our in vivo and translational research efforts. The candidate will  instrumental in developing and utilizing biologically relevant assays and model systems to advance our development programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide exploratory target research; identify key assays, and animal disease models to enable development to move forward programs
  • Identify, characterize and evaluate animal disease models
  • Optimize and execute experiments to assess function (e.g. expression, PK/PD, BD, etc) from tissue samples as well as cell culture.
  • Manage CRO activities, including project design, timelines and quality of deliverables
  • Rigorous documentation of methods and results in electronic laboratory notebook and written reports
  • Contribute to publications as well as to patents in the areas of non-viral gene therapies and cell biology and present results at scientific meetings

Qualifications

  • PhD in Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field with strong background in in vivo gene therapy with at least 3 years of industry experience required
  • Demonstrated success in preclinical research and development projects, with a proven track record of experimental design, in-depth data analysis and interpretation based on strong scientific rationale
  • Demonstrate preclinical/in vivo study planning and execution experience with CROs
  • Expertise with a variety of molecular biology techniques (e.g. cloning, sequence analysis and manipulation, RT-qPCR, assay development, etc.) and tissue sample processing is essential
  • Hands on in vivo experience with AAV/lentivirus a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in multi-tasking in an extremely fast-paced environment with both competing and shifting priorities
