Sr. Research Associate/Scientist, Gene Therapy Vectors

About the Role:
We are looking for a talented, creative and driven candidate to join our growing team and help us to fully harness the therapeutic potential of exosomes. Responsibilities include applying molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemical methods to advance a next generation of gene therapies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in preclinical development of our genetic medicines programs.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design and generate novel specialized gene therapy vectors and examine their function
• Work independently and as part of a collaborative team to design, plan, and execute experiments across multiple projects
• Maintain knowledge of published developments in research field and recommend alternative approaches to research projects and programs
• Rigorous documentation of methods and results in electronic laboratory notebook and written reports
• Contribute to publications as well as to patents in the areas of non-viral gene therapies and cell biology and present results at scientific meetings

Qualifications:

• Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related field, BSc (6+ years), MSc (4+) or PhD (0+) years of experience in an academic or industrial setting
• Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of molecular biology techniques such as cloning, plasmid design, sequence analysis and manipulation, RT-qPCR, assay development, etc. is essential
• Experience with mammalian or bacterial cell lines and aseptic cell culture techniques
• Experience with DNA purification with kits and chromatography approaches
• Knowledge and experience in optimizing and advancing the enzymatic creation and manipulation of nucleic acids is a plus
• Preferably experience with AAV, lentivirus and/or CRISPR systems
• Open minded with excellent problem-solving skills, as well as the confidence to work within a fast-paced research field
• Strong written and verbal communicator in English
